As the end of summer approaches, we begin to look forward to fall. And by fall, we mean football.
With training camp getting underway this Thursday at the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills, Maryland, it’s time to catch you up on what to expect this season and important dates to keep an eye on.
Expectations for the 2015 Baltimore Ravens are undoubtedly high, some would even say super. While the loss of veterans DT Haloti Ngata (traded to the Detroit Lions), WR Torrey Smith (Free Agent), and TE Owen Daniels (Free Agent) have definitely left holes to fill, the Ravens responded nicely both in the draft and in free agency.
Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF – Perriman is a big 6-foot-2, 212 pound receiver who was selected with the Baltimore Raven’s first-round pick. With 4.24 speed, Perriman is viewed as a replacement for the departed Torrey Smith.
Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota – Williams is a 6-foot-4, 250 pound, former All-Big Ten Conference selection who is just 21 years old as he enters his rookie season. He doesn’t have good speed but is known for his leaping ability, sure hands, and ability to be in the right place at the right time. He accounted for 36 pass catches, 569 yards and eight touchdowns as a red shirt sophomore at Minnesota and is expected to make an immediate impact.
Marc Trestman, Offensive Coordinator – Replacing Gary Kubiak, the former Chicago Bears head coach will be the Raven’s fourth offensive coordinator in as many years. Trestman is known for his pass first scheme and is considered a “quarterback whisperer.” He intends to employ the same offense as last year with added wrinkles, which could do wonders for Joe Flacco, who has never passed for 4,000 yards.
Other notable additions include backup quarterback Matt Schaub, CB Kyle Arrington, and the extension of RB Justin Forsett to a three-year deal.
