The Hon is Not a Dying Breed
HonFest is a one of a kind event that has grown from tiny “Baltimore’s Best Hon” into a nationally recognized festival that celebrates the historic working-women that have made Baltimore the great city it is today. Covering four blocks on Hampden’s very own 36th Street, the festival has recently received publication from The New York Times, Rachel Ray’s Tasty Travel, The New York Post, Southern Living, and the LA Times.
Hon, short for Honey, is a classic Bawlmer term of endearment. For generations, it has expressed the warmth and affection bestowed upon neighbors and visitors alike by our mothers and grandmothers. In these parts, the women who vie to become Baltimore’s Best Hon are a vision of the sixties-era. Beehive hairdos, bright-blue eye shadow, spandex pants and anything with leopard print is what you can expect to see from Honniest Hons.
The HonFest motto: “The higher the hair the closer to God!”
The HonFest Mission: “Honor the Working Women of America”
The HonFest Goal: Permission to have fun, Hon!
